    Shutdown Restarting

I have this really peculiar problem. Others can't get their system to boot , i can't get this one to shutdown. When i give a shutdown order from windows it will just reboot the system.
The only way to shut it down is by pressing continously the power button. Is there any explanation to this? If it is freshly booted it will shutdown properly. After a few hours it won't.
    Anyone any ideas?

Windows 2000 SP3. I went to power options and checked if there was anything there. Shutdown turns off computer. I don't get it. What is wrong with it?

M$ released a patch for Win98se called shutdown patch. See if they didn't release a similar patch for the OS you use.

Go into your bios settings and make sure you have the wake-on features dis-abled.

already checked the wake-on settings all disabled.
The strange part is that it shuts down normally if it works for around 20 minutes but not after that.

    APM is your problem!

go into your BIOS and change it to use S3 mode instead of S1

    if that doesn't work

    try turning off APCI
