sound driver (what is class installer error?)

I know absolutely nothing 'bout computers. I am trying to install a sound driver and the driver that came on motherboard disc is a PCI Soundpro cm8330. (I have no Idea what kind of mother board I have. All I know is it is a pcchips). Add/Remove hardware accepts it until the very end, when it says something to the effect of "an error has accured, your class installer has not accepted driver device."
What is a class installer? Why won't it load the driver that is suppose to work?

    thanks Eric, but . . .

my roomates built this computer. the drivers are for '98 '95 windows, but they installed windows 2000. I am lost. Do I try to download a driver? I've tried several drivers from www.pcchips.com but they don't work. Should I try a new Windows Installer for 2000. Do I break down and just buy a new sound card?

    First off ?????????????????????????????/

Can you please provide more info. I'm assuming your trying to get your sound card drivers from the last line... if so, go to the mfg website and see if there are current windows 2000 drivers.

Please explain a bit more so we can further help you out.
