Thanks Muchmark. I have easy cd 5 plat, but it's so unreliable. I've uninstalled it and put Nero on instead. Ten times better if you ask me. Which leeds to another question. Can you have both easy cd and Nero on the same system at the same time? When I tried to do it, nero warned me it may cause problems. If it is possible, what steps should I take to stop any clashes? xxx

Any ideas on whether it would be ok to have both (easy cd+nero) installed at the same time?

SWAG: As far as I know both can be installed but not running at the same time. Would have to watch preferences/options to avoid conflicts. Just make sure that you don't wind up with DirectCD (from Adaptec) and InCD (from Nero) installed at the same time. Since both are packet writers. (XP already has a scaled down version of Adaptec's stuff that's preinstaled as part of XP. So I'm not sure of the correct answer.)

XP will do basic cd recording you know, without the third party stuff.

I don't know of any free software, but i know program that will take care of your needs. The program is called magix audio cleaning lab 3.0. It allows you to record lp's and cassette into wav and mp3 format. The program also can filter out unwanted noises made by old and used cassettes and lp's. It's something to look into if your interested in recording all your old music.

Just do a google or msn search and you'll find the site for more info.

    Take care!
    Peace
