    D-Link DI-604 router question

Going to buy a DI-604, on Friday 29.

I see it comes with a Ethernet (CAT 5 UTP) cable.

Anyone know if it is a straight thru cable or is it a cross over cable?

I hope it's a cross over cable, as I think I need one to go from my Cable Modem to the router WAN port.

If the supplied cable is Str-Thru guess I'll have to buy a cross over one
(Router is $40, bet cross over cable is $30)

I know very little, but my guess is that a cat 5utp is straight thru,, the cat 5e is crossover,, here's a link for wiring diagrams if you don't want to spend the extra dough you can make your own crossover cable,,, but I'm not too sure you'll need crossover anyway on a cable modem/router.... wait for another reply,, hope I don't get flamed for this,, but it is inevitable,, nice link anyways... http://yoda.uvi.edu/InfoTech/rj45.htm

If you do make your own one side is striaght thru and one side is crossover... anyway just check out the link self explanitory...

here's a link for your products tech support if you want to read up on the install procedure before hand... http://support.dlink.com/products/vi...oductid=DI-604

Routers, hubs, and switches usually come with patch (straight thru) cables rather than crossover cables. I know, since I have bought enough of 'em to find out.

Yup the router comes with a Straight thru cable.

The Di-604 was $45 then minus $10 when I get the mail in rebate.

You can get a cross over cable, 6ft for $8.

    All at BestBuy.
