Go to flea markets and auction sites like www.ebay.com
They should sell some old computers for cheap prices.

You don't need to have a network to learn hacking skills, all you need is one computer that has access to the Internet - the hacking sites and newsgroups.

If you still want some old cheap systems, there are a number of places not named ebay you can check.

if you plan to accomplish it and still young, find faster computers.
A movie with a coolest hacker, who can break into all systems but inevitably have to wait eternally for things to come up is unheard of.

get an old pc that can bearly run win95 on it with a 14.4 modem and go from there. You don't need anything faster than that

junk stores.
or come in the user to user product exchange and ask peeps if they have any cases, or any mobo's and cpu's that run atleast at 75mhz-200mhz, slap abough ram and win95 in it, and you can make yourself a little system to test things out in.

Talking about HACKING here is frowned on heavily, perhaps you should reconsider?

Depends how you look at it

it should still be legal because you are doing it to your own Lan, and you are breaking into your own property to test out the security strength.
now if you want to try and break into the FBI's mainframe, then it will be illigal
but like I said, "mayb" he want to "test his security"

Yea, but is the software he needs to be a true hacker legal to own even if he never uses it for illegal purposes? I think not. Times have changed. I would be willing to bet there is laws against even possessing a copy of the Anacharchists Cookbook in today's America.
