K7S5A The Saga Continues.....
Taking advice from a previous post I took a gamble and invested in a new CPU to try and correct the problem of my dead system. When I power up now, the HSF spins, the CD and floppy drives light up and there is action with the HDD but still no post or beeps from the mobo.
Have checked all connections, tried clearing CMOS, different ram but still to no avail.
System is K7S5A mobo, amd 2000xp (replacing dead 1800xp), 2 x 256mb ddr ram, geforce 4 vid card, 300w psu.
Anyone any suggestions before I chuck my whole system out the window in sheer frustration.

...did you clear the CMOS by removing and returning the battery or moving the jumper settings on JP4 on the board? Aswell, does the GPU boot?

tried both to clear the cmos, don't know what gpu is??

I've got one of those mobo's and I think they are ****. I've had nothing but problems with the ******* and their technical support website is useless. Stay away from them.

haha... me too! But as the mobo's already been purchased the least we can do is try and get it running again!
BTW...have you tried reseating your video card? and on that matter just makesure everything is seated correctly... it's strange that there are no beeps at all.. mmh

yeah tried just a bare bones system out of the case with no video card but still nothing. Really hoping I don't have to fork out for another motherboard as I've been building the parts up for months and cant remember where I got it from, as with mu cpu would mean paying out even more money. Cant have bought a dodgy CPU and Mobo can I? No-one can be that unlucky on their first build can they??

Is it possible that you powered the PC without the heat sink being fully in place? If so, 3 seconds is all it takes to cook the Athlon. I don't recommend ever installing a heatsink on an Athlon while the board is in the case. You can't see well enough to tell if it's flat on the CPU die.
Try reseating the video card and test the motherboard outside of the case.
