Like Warthog said above PLextor are the make to go for. I've got a Plextor 12/10/32 and its fairly quick (copies a cd in about 8 mins) but also supports the burning of RAW DAO & Sub-Channel Data which means you can copy protected CD's. It also use's Burn proof technology and is only £190 in the UK(think thats under $400 US??)

Plextor sounds like a good deal... but during my search I've noticed there may be a compatability issue with the VIA KT7 drivers...?
I reciently built an MSI Turbo Via KT7A Raid mobo with a Duron 700. Will this be a problem?
thanks again!

Plextor. Got mine from Buy.com with $40 off for first time buyer, and with tax/S&H it was $229 to my front door. **** good investment.

I decided on the Plextor 16x10x40. Last night I found out that my 48x CDR can't extract data in a "Copy CD" mode faster than the 12x burn setting. I haven't tried the same transfer using different software.
The best deal might be the Plextor 12x10x32, although I also burn from the HDD and 16x is great for that.
Go for the fast one if you can!
BTW ~ BURN-Proof is great! I was surfing, downloading and transfering files in Windows Explorer during the burns.

Well folks I did it. I went to the PC shack during lunch break and picked up the Plextor 12x10x32..... Its gonna be a long rest of a day at work!
