    You can get the preview [trial?] version of Whistler from MS by downloading it $9.95 or have cd mailed $19.95 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/preview/order.asp

    <FONT COLOR="red">LOL!</FONT c> Oh I <u>HIGHLY</u> doubt that. In fact, I'd say exactly the opposite.

    Check out the latest MS BS: Windows Product Activation ID, you & your hardware will be CONSTANTLY monitored. Upgrade your machine, swap a motherboard? You will need a new ID before Windows will allow you to complete the boot. Sounds like a bad joke, but appearantly it's true.

    btw, anyone fool enough to pay money to beta test someone else's product isn't firing on all cylinders in the first place.

    It's not beta testing. It's a preview, and preview programs are nothing new. It's Beta code, and if you're a small business and you want to see how your apps will run, or if you're looking to see how rollouts can occur, it's an easy way to get a headstart.

    Beta testing is something quite different, and you don't become a beta tester just for the asking or for $20.

    If anti-piracy is an inconvenience, the we have don't have anyone to blame but ourselves.

    I'm curious as to how MS will prove that you are running XP on only 1 machine.
    eg: I buy a legal copy of XP. I then install it on my 850 {register by phone not online!}
    Then a few days later I install it on my 450 and call up MS for a new activation #
    They say sorry no Can-do But I say that it did not like that computer so I'm TRYING it on this one!?
    Thats piracy of course but it also could be legit. I wonder what their stance on that will be because we know that 2k has probs with many machines on this BB and it cant or wont install
    Also how many calls will you be faced with let alone allowed over the lifespan of this OS?
    Shoot some people may still be running it in 5-8 years! [you dos and 3.1/95 people ]

    There will always be a way to steal if someone wants it bad enough.
