m767v / p3 600 problem
I am attempting to set up this combination but have run into a problem. Initially set up the board to test processor compatability with a single scsi 2 drive and advansys 960u, IDE cdrom and 128 MB pc133 to test it. Installed win 98se and everything was tickety boo. Took my current system down to get the components and set it up again in a case, this time with adaptec 2940u, st410800n (D and E),st12550n (C), nec scsi cdrom, olympus scsi CDR, 256 MB pc133 and external serial modem. On reinstalling win, could get to the point where all files copied and device detection completed, then win would give me an error message saying it can't write to drive c: and would terminate installation. Tried reformatting and reinstalling, another st12550n in place of first(known good) drive but no success. Problem every time at same point.
I am wondering if this could be a power issue because I only have 100w of 5v power and processor draws 35w according to Intel spec or the alternative, whether this is a processor compatability problem because board is rated only to P2-500, although it did seem to manage the chip when I first set it up to test the setup. Can anybody shed a little light on this for me?
