New Case ?? for new build

Building a new 2.0 AMD and have seen in pricewatch.com new cases with 400w PS for $15 to $25! Can this be correct? Anything to watch out for with these?

Bad. Don't buy those. You'll regret it.

A quality 400 watt power supply alone costs $40. Anything less is not quality. You can get away with a cheap case, but they're built badly, look ugly, and generally have poor airlflow.

I like Chieftec/Antec style cases myself. I spent $100 on a red aluminum chieftec case with a 420 watt power supply.

Yeah, click them and find out that the price has been mis-reported for the wrong item
Or, better yet, the price is for the case, but the P/S, case fan(s), power spliters, etc. will cost you..

For a good solid case you'll have to spend a ad more than $25 IMO

The power supply is where it's crucial to have a steady spike or drop free source supplying the correct stable voltage to your components. Even a $40 case that comes with a psu is something to shy away from. For myself I use the antec 1080amg cases. You can find them at various on-line sellers for about $112 and it comes with a 430 watt antec true power PSU, case fans, as well as it being a well thought out and properly ventilated case.

Yeah, get bushmaster's case. The whole antec/chieftec linup is very nice, and bushmasters comes with a 420 watt antec power supply.

The case design allows for 4 case fans, which is what I have in mine.

They are made by the same company as the Antec and come with a 420W PSU and front USB ports. I bought one recently - the silver one - and it was suhweeeet!

You have to be careful that the power supply is not one of those cheap types because that would be the total undoing of all of the whole system! Some manufacturers sell cases with power supplies that do not meet power requirements for the most demanding CPUs and Mobos! You have to spend a little more on the power supply because it is the most important thing since all of the components inside the system need a very clean and stable voltage and current supply in order to functional flawlessly!

About 7 months ago I bought that same tower with that same turbolink 420watt psu and the voltage readings were all out of spec. My +12v reading was anywhere between 11.20 and 11.65, the +5 was 4.2 and I would get total drops on the memory voltage the only voltage reading that held was that of the cmos battery. Gee I wonder why? LOL. My first thoughts, especially with the lom mem voltage was a bad mobo. But after switching it for an antec psu all the readings held to spec with barely perceptable fluctuation or none at all.

I've got that red chieftec case with the turbolink power supply.

Although my 5 volt line is about 4.7, it's a constant 4.7. Everything else is right on spec. The system seems a lot more stable than it was with my crappy 300 watt power supply.

Yeah, I've used PC Power & Cooling power supplies. They are quite good, but they are pricey. Far better than the cheap generic 300 watt power supply I got with my case.
