XP Home to Win2k?
Can anyone point me in the direction of a step by step guide to confugiring a basic network connection between XP Home and Win2K Pro using a crossover cable. Netiher cpu connects to the internet. I need to swap some files between them.
I have tried to use the wizards with no luck. I have users on each named the same, same password & admin priv. , Have a shared folder on each. I can see from the XP to 2K but can't access, says either I don't have permission or path can't be found. However, looking from the 2K to the XP Home I can't see anything. I can ping both directions. I have manually config Tcp/Ip to 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3. Same subnet mask.
I am looking for a step by step guide to follow, has anyone seen one. Microsoft site is depressingly bare of such support.
Sorry, they are in the same workgroup and the win2k is added to the cpus that are allowed to connect. I will try and find a way to disable the firewall to see if that makes a difference.
One thing, I thought that I read somewhere that in XP Home the administrator right can only be truly set within safe mode, is there any truth to this? I haven't tried it since I can't find any documentation on it. Thanks for the help

Is the file and printer sharing service active?
Otherwise, they won't be able to see each other, dispite they are physically networked...
