    Microsoft network password

I am giving a computer to a person on the same network I am on. How do I change the Microsoft User Name/Password? It must be simple but I have tried for hours. W98SE is the OS.

    There's no need
you can just remove your profile
    and delete yours

    or simply leave it there

and they can create their own

what OS does the PC has?

what kind of network do you have? domain? peer to peer? The win98 passwords didn't really mean a heck of a lot.

O.K., I'm not to bright about this, that is why I am asking. It is actually a network that shares the Internet thru a switch which in turn is attached to a cable modem. Everyone shares a single network printer but only two share files.

My basic question is, at boot up time, a box shows up with my name and asks for my password. I want to get rid of it but don't know how to do this. I also don't know whether I need a new sign on (name/password) for the new person that has this computer.

As stated before, the OS is W98SE. I find nothing refering to profiles in Control Panel, only Users. When cliking on users, a Wizard starts asking for a new person. I don't know if I should do this.

Win9x logins are c**p. It doesn't really matter what names they are. you can use the same username for all the computers if you like. You can use tweakui to auto input a name and password at startup.

just change the name and enter a blank password. it really doesn't make that much of a difference what name you use.

if you want to edit the default user name, you can run regedit.

go to hkey_local_machine\network\logon and change the username key.

the next time the system boots, it will show the username you typed in.

win98 doesn't have profiles like win2k or xp. You can make up a generic username and have tweakui automatically log in that user.
