P4 2.4 Ghz Idle temperature???
I just built a system with a P4 2.4 Ghz CPU and its running idle between 50c and 54c with the stock heatsink/fan. Should I be worried?
Im wondering because I have a P4 1.6a Ghz CPU that runs idle between 36c and 40c with the same stock heatsink/fan.
System Specs:
P4 2.4 Ghz
2 Sticks of 512 Sdram PC133
Western Digital 80 gig 7200rpm ATA 100 8mb cache
12X DVD
40x12x48 CDRW Liteon
ATI AIW 7500 radeon
PCchips 930LR MB A/L/S 400mhz FSB
P4 1.6a Ghz
1 Stick of 512 Sdram PC133
Maxtor 30gig 5400rpm ATA 66
Quantum 10gig 5400rpm ATA 33
40x12x48 CDRW Liteon
Geforce 2 TI 64MB TV-Out
PCchips 935LM MB A/V/L/S 400mhz FSB
Thanks in advance.

well for starters... those temps aren't doing any damage to your CPU. I'd start getting nervous around 65-70 though. As a general rule of thumb, I like to keep my temps below 60 on full load on a hot day... just so none of that nasty damage has a chance to sneak in.
I'd just check your rig. I'm upgrading in a few days with teh p4 2.4 Ghz and I'm getting a Thermaltake Xaser II plus case complete with a stock standard three case fans, just for starters. I'd just check your ventilation and air flow.
And btw, its not necessary to go out and buy some artic silver 3 or anything cause it usually only alters your temps by about 2C, and thats only if you apply it right.
