lonely computer, major problem
I am hosting a small lan of 8 people and one of my friends brought a computer that will not get an ip form the router. His computer works at home with just about the same router, 4 port not a 1 port, and we got the setup at a router > a switch. He is running win98se and we have tried 2 diff nics. The computer can't see or contact any of the other computers even when the same subnets and everything. =(
I need a reply ASAP , so either im my AOL/AIM name JpCeLL or reply to this. Thanks~

Sounds like a crossover cable is being used.

Well we solved the problem by bulding a temporay machine for the kid. But we tried a working cable for the machine, someone said it could of been the switch, but it worked fine for everyone elese.
