"America can be summed up in two words: NO HISTORY "
Depends on how you look at it though! I mean we are you and everyone else so therefor your history and cultures. So I would say America is the One and Only where you can see all cultures fairly and evenly throughout the country. We've got a little of everything here. And thats because of all of you. So when you insult some of our culture, you are inturn insulting your own, we borrowed the ideas from all of you...
P.S. Sports have always been a nation to nation thing. Its all what you were raised around. So here its football baseball soccer hockey tennis (hate it) rugby yes there are small college rugby teams folks trefer to above staitment....anyhow you get the point.

Yeah, There's a country alright! Where the money is called the "looney" and if you have a satellite dish the government kicks in your door and hauls your **** to jail! Talk about looney!
I don't want to go off on a rant here but,....

wallie_x, have you ever been on the recieving end of a rugby tackle ??
Usually around 3 fat or frighteningly muscualr b**stards running at you like steam trains, in synch to pelt you into the ground (usually with high tackles too in my experience ie around the f**kin neck).. once thats over with you have to contend with the ruck, from which you will be lucky to emerge without boot marks tattoo's across your face or broken ribs from all the kicking and stamping that occurs... and thats WITHOUT the body armour you see fit to emply.. just a plain ol rugby shirt

Bigjak,
They don't even broadcast rugby over here on the western coast of America, so I won't make pretenses, I don't know J.S. about it.
Sounds like a rough game. I wonder why It hasn't caught on more over here then. A lot of Americans, love rough sports. That's why hockey is quite popular. But I find nothing 'sportsman like' taking your stick and nailing an opponent on the head with it simply because he might of cleaned your clock (legally) on the last play. That's chicken-sh*t in my book. Also, not all sports take physical size in order to be a champion. Who would say Lance Armstrong is not a Champion, yet he’s not huge.
I said it before in different terms, but I’ll rephrase it. Gauging one’s masculinity, or lack of, in relation to the sport they like best is bullsh*t. My personal favorite is fishing and I do quite well at it. I couldn’t take the hits I used to be able to when I played sand lot tackle football as a teenager. I’m now in my late 40’s, but do I remember the soreness after a days play? Yes very much so, especially the ‘Charley-Horses’ from getting hit in the legs. I played running back and receiver. But I would never consider myself less a man if I didn't play or like football.
And final notes: We just might be getting into a war together here against Irack. Shouldn't we tone down the B.S. rhetoric a little, eh strabs? The US did spawn as a child mostly from England. On the East coast English colonial culture still thrives.
God Bless Good King George!! He actually was the catalyst that helped form this GREAT nation. God Bless the USA!!
And may God Bless the U.K. (at least partially)

You're right Wallie, I was just responding to the criticism levelled by Sark.
The Canadian thing was a shot at America's weak spot. I don't mean any of what I've posted here, I actually like the majority of the Americans I've met, and that is litterally thousands as I work with your finest on a daily basis, the accent is like having your T.V. talk back to you.

They had it on a news clip last night, that both of our pilots have been receiving both missles and ground fire almost continually in Iraq. For some odd reason the news media over here wasn't talking about it. To busy pushing political propaganda for the left because it's so close to election time. Hope the BBC wasn't doing the same. Both our country's best are in harms way so we can poke each other in the ribs here on the web. Does make for good fun. Lets not let it get out of hand though.
(For both sides of the big blue lagoon.)

Hey we Northerners are proud of our accents I used to work with an American girl who couldn't believe the differance in accents in our office between people from Blackpool & Preston (about 10, maybe 15 mile apart)
Well, this thread is now about the US & UK and no mention of Europeans - its like playing Chinese Whispers
