Re: Re: Europeans!!
I'll explain. Us crazy Amreicans call it football cause it is. The game is started how? By KICKING the ball with what? Your foot. Thus FootBall! Now I have no idea where the name soccer came from? Anybody know?

American football is just boring...even worse than cricket... it lasts far too long, and isnt really very manly.. we play American football too... except without the girlie body armour and ridiculously long game lengths.. we call it RUGBY, a real mens game if ever i've seen one
Football (the real FOOTball) doesnt really flip my switch as much as it does most blokes in the UK, i mean i like it, i played at school and town level as well as in my own time (unitl a recent broken ankle which means it'll be t'uther side of chrimbo before i can even contemplate kicking a ball), but i cant sit and watch it on TV or even in the flesh, it bores me, so does playing it really.. only reason i pay is because i am (or was) good, no other reason. however it beats the hell outta American "football", which is mind numbingly boring , as is Baseball... im seeing a trend here
I have also played rugby at school level a few years back and must say its thoroughly enjoyable... theres nothing better than a good violent outburst and ungentlemanly stamping , i have stopped playig due to football and failign to develop and real body width and what not but still watch it quite a bit on TV still, and find it entertaining...
having said that i LOVE watching NHL (even though ive never played ice hockey) as well as Basketball which again i have participated in at school and town level, and is one of the few sports i enjoy watching on TV as much as i do playing...

an NFL player could kill ANY rugby player ANY day.
American football is just boring
Poor appreciation for a great sport. Maybe its the way some people are brought up? I know I like soccer and football and Im surrounded by anti-soccer sentiment.
