Someone here has uses an XP2000+:

    ECS FAQ Support Table:

    And finally, the bios updates:

Since you have version 1.0, use the 1.x bios update toward the bottom of the page.

The 3.x was made for greater compatibility with the Athlon XP. ECS does not note using Athlon XP's on their 1.x, but when you look at the 3.x, it's listed.

howd do you check which mobo ver you have. mine just has a date on the post sceen 25/03/02. I got my board 2 months ago, slapped on an xp1800 @ 1.73ghz just put 256ddr in it and not 1 fault. But theres a few posts scattered around the forums saying that there board wont support this that etc. Why does my board support an xp1800 but his doesnt. can you just upgrade to the 3x bios or summet.

Before you spin that theory further ...

Again, v3.x has 4-channel sound over the previous 2-channel, that's it. And also again, only the very first batch of v1.0 won't run Athlon XP.

Regarding the BIOS updates, the latest ones are for any revision of the board. v3 support was added at some point, but the old boards are still supported by the later BIOSes (notice how the header says "PCB 1.x/3.x"?). Just don't flash a v3.x board with one of the very old BIOSes. (Rule of thumb: Never flash to an older BIOS than the one the board originally came with.)

    regards, Peter
