what kind of 3dmark scores are needed to run today's games (and tomorrow's)
how about everyone post their opinions on how high of a 3d mark score is needed to run todays games at decent resolutions. and also post what kind of score will be acceptable for new games coming out (doom III)

Gone Forever.......
I would say that if you get at least 4000 in 3dmark on default then you shouldbe able to run every game today at decent speed.
That is an opnion though because 3dmark isnt a good judge in how games will run as games are completely different than 3dmark.

3DMark isn't a good way to judge performance in games - just my machine gets more than yours.......(three ronnies sketch springs to mind )
Games are completly different idea - there are times when you need a monster PC (i.e. when a lot is happening) but there are others when a 200MMX will suffice. Depending on your spec, you should be able to play all modern games, just not in such graphical splender - I played DeusX and a lot of modern games on a AMD K6 200MMX with 48Ram and a Voodoo2....worked fine if not slow in certain places.

even a gf2 ti/ultra can play almost all games !!
even my crapy mx 200 I can play almost all games at 800x600!
but yea for games of 2003+ we will need real fast cards.!

What grimym says is true - a gf2 mx400 with 64mb RAM will run cureent games at 1024 x 768 at 32bit colour okay -- but for games of the future - its a big no no
