    Bios Flash on k7s5a

Ok, I want to flash my bios with the latest version but I am worried I will foul my confounded 'lectric box up.

I have Windows 2000, and don't know how to create a DOS bootdisk through it. I don't think DOS is even on the system, but to be honest I don't know. Would someone who has flashed this board before with win2k hold my hand and walk me through it step by step.

    Thank you

    Um...

Clarification. I want the boot disk for win2k, or the one for DOS. Please post the link where I need to go so I don't screw it up. If my computer becomes inoperable, wifey will kick my ***.

    here are the good choices

DrDOS 7.X Disk For Bios Flashing Basic- No Drivers

    http://www.hellasystems.de/ftp/Utili...0/drdflash.exe

i use my own compiled flavour of DrDOS

DrDOS is free by the way.

but i doubt you'll want to have a full version, having Win2K installed

    LOL

    Checkout this K7S5A Bios FAQ

BTW , if your using NTFS , you may need to take special steps for the bootdisk. I dont use NTFS so cant say for sure.
    What ya say, AllGamer?

that's what my last post was for.

he just need to copy the unzipped files to that disk, and run that disk at boot time

After that, I just follow the directions at the ECS site for bios flashing and (fingers crossed) hopefully all goes well.

(Yes, that was a very passive attempt at a question. I pretend I know what I am talking about, awaiting correction if I am wrong. It's no big deal I know, it's just a buddy of mine with a CS degree and works for SUN FUBAR'ed his Abit board doing a bios flash.)

Mrs. Dave kicks my **** enough. Anybody else have a wife who gives you 4 instructions simultaneously?

Back on topic. With the latest bios for this board, how fast of an Athlon XP can I run? The blurb says "all XP processors" but I dunno if that means the 2200+ is supported.

Latest BIOS release seems to support even the brandnew 2400 and 2600 speed grades. (This is unconfirmed as yet.)

    regards, Peter
