Which video card is right for now!
I am planning on buying a new video card to accomadate my new p4 2.0Ghz. I currently own a Radeon 7200 64mb sdram card...and i know any card made in the past year will be a major improvement. Currently there has been a lot of diffrent cards produced from ATI and NVIDIA and i am having difficulty on choosing a card on my budget. I only have $400cdn.
These are the cards i have looked at:
Radeon 7500
Radeon 8500LE
Radeon 8500 128mb
Geforce 4 ti 4200 128mb
Geforce 4 ti 4400 128mb
Which card should i get..they all seem to run the same

i always suggest the ATI Radeon 8500 as its not that expensive, had very good 3d capability , superb 2D Quality, Amazing DVD playback and the best tv-out out there.
if you dont care about any other features and are a total spped demon and only care about FPS then get a Geforce4TI4200. I currently have a Radeon 7500 bought for £50 $75ish and it kicks ***. All games Top Res,smooooth

Ti4200, at price to performance ratio, for just over 100 quid (if you know where to look), and with a bit of fiddling and o/c'ing you got yourself sumink faster than a ti4400...

ati vs nvidia
It seems like there is only two reasonable choices for me.
Radeon 8500 or Geforce 4 ti 4200/4400
I have been looking at the 3 and i probly buy the radeon, but i still have a few days before i make the decision.
Any thoughts or suggestions about the 3 is welcome

Nothing wrong with any of your 3 narrowed down choices. GF4 runs faster than the 8500, so you will get a longer life out of your card if you go with the 4200 or 4400.

If you get the Radeon 8500, make sure it's made by ATI.
BTW- I have a 8500 64mb. No complaints at all.

If you're short on money, the 8500 is a great card and it's performance won't disappoint you at all! Me...I'm sticking with my Matrox G400 Still plays AVP2!

speed vs quality
So it all comes down to this:
radeon 8500 for quality of graphics
and
Geforce ti 4200 for pure speed.
thats a tough choice. Can't they just make a card with both.

I am in the same situation, and I bought the 8500 le 128mb -- it's the best bang for the buck IMO

Over here you can pickl up an 8500 and ti4200for the same price - so why lump for the slower goods - ti4200 it is if you axe me
