I have a ati radeon 8500, my tv out adapter head broke. Not the part that's attached to the video card, the small piece that's about 1in long (changes computer video signal to tv signal). I'm looking to replace the piece anyone know what it's called, I checked ati.com for the component but I'm not sure which one it is:
You mean a s-video to rca adaptor. Get them anywhere-like circuit city/radio shack/some pc shops/home stereo shops etc. Heck all it does is take the two signal wires of s-video and run them to a rca plug. Really simple-but a good one will cost ya about $20 and a cheapy about $10. Thats US.
Some say the better (more $) ones provide a better pic. I think it has to do with the wire and insulation they use. The one you got free by the way is a cheap one, they always are. I still got my cheapy one too, but when it dies I'll get a good one.
I look around for the s-video to rca adapters, but they're different from the ati adapter. The original adapter has 8 pins link that plugs into the nine holes of on the video card link. It leaves one the holes unplugged (see attached pic).
The s-video to rca that are sold look mostly this, which I've seen used on laptops for output display.
Are these usable on the ati card? What's the difference between the pins numbers? They also mention male/female, male/male, female/female, female/male combinations when selling the adapters - which one do I need - what's the difference?
where do I find the one for the card, cause I'm only finding the BAD kind online, might drop by Frys and see if they have it but some links would be nice, thanks.
