    cheap mobo for XP1900+ ??

I recently toasted a Soyo board but the XP1900 survived. The insurance however bought me a great new mobo and cpu. I want to get a CHEAP, STABLE, kt333 or kt266a board to use it on. (probably as another webserver) What do you all suggest?

Shuttle ak35gt2 there not expensive but yet have decent quality and rank up there with the over $100 boards for o/c or just plain stability, you can check prices on shuttle boards Here abit are too error prone as far as out of the box, ECS doesn't use quality parts to keep there prices too far down, Iwill have been decent as well.

What was odd to me was that the sis chipset benched better than the intel in reviews I read.

Yep, I think Sis is going to give them all a run for their money with these new chipsets. With the north and south bridge combined into one you can't really call it a chipset anymore either. I also see no problem with quality and stability on one I just put together last june. Driver compatability has been a breeze so far.

uk, unforunately they will have to go to a north/south bridge because the original 730/735/745 doesn't have usb2.0. it has firewaire, but no on eever made a board with it on it

I lost you here. My board doesn't have firewire, but it does have USB. I don't know what version though. I don't see any specs in the manual on the USB ports.

that doesn't really matter, though as the north / south interface still can transfer >1G/s (unlike the VIA that can only do about 266MB/s (we're not talking mem throughput)).

me? i'm waiting for Hammer (around Nov 1). the 2400 & 2600 in september are just teasers. there'll be a 3G Hammer by Christams (or at least the reviews will be out then )

Can't you just add a USB 2.0 card???

I agree that a SiS745 board would be a good choice, given the criteria. In addition to ECS, there's the A7S333 and 745 Ultra. The ASUS in particular does have optional firewire, although it might be tough to actually find a board with that option (is that was what was alluded to in a previous post?).
