Windows Start Menu Items not Visible

    Hi Everyone,

A friend asked me to help with a problem she's having with the start menu. Aparrently, only the icons are visible when the Start button is clicked. The text becomes visible only when the mouse pointer is passed over the particular menu item.

When the cursor is moved, the text disappears. I haven't got a clue as to the solution...

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Will.

    "Welcome to SysOpt!"

Try changing the theme back. Windows XP comes with three themes I believe. You can choose by going into Display properties; Right click on the desktop, click properties. I recommend the Classic view since it uses less system resources and is a bit more stable...

Prhps you have personalised start menu enabled... right click on staretmenu/taskbar > properties, and in amongstthere is an option for "View personalised start menu" , uncheck that and see what happens (Thats for 2k / XP only mind you)
