    Nvidia cards

    Hi,

I have a 3D Profit 32 meg video card that sometimes gives me a lockup. This can happen at any time. I sent a e-mail to Guillemot and they recommended updating my 4-in-1 drivers which I did.

The error I am getting is that the nv4_disp.dll has gone into a constant loop. This has happened with about 6 different driver sets from Nvidia, as well as the native windows installed driver. This happens at radom times and the only way to clear this is to reboot.

My question is:: Does this mean the video card is bad and should be replaced or is there something I can do to fix the problem.

    Thanks for any information.

No, I'm not overclocking the video card. It is running at the regular speed or setting. I am using the nvidia driver 29.42 now, but it has locked using varius other nvidia drivers.

I know it's not the drivers as I took this card out and installed an 8 meg video card, the nvidia Vanta, and it runs fine using the same driver.

Thanks for the response. I have been on VDR for about 2 years but just came here in the last week or so. Nice site and lots of information to learn.

    cheers mac

It could be the drivers because I have had various problems with some of the drivers with my Ge 2 mx200. Tried some earlier drivers and the problems went away. Seeing your card is not the latest try the 14.90 version, very stable and give good performance

Well I broke down and got a new GeForce4 MX440 64 meg video card so now all my video problems should be over. I hope so. I am using the nvidia driver set 29.42 at this time.

Will leave it running for the rest of the day.

    Thanks for all the responses.

    cheers, mac
