Problems converting MP3 to WAV
I've been converting MP3's to WAV's so that i can burn them onto a CD and play the CD in a CD player. To convert the MP3's i've been using Goldwave and this sems to work ok. But the resulting WAV files for some reason can only be played in Goldwave. When trying to play them in Windows Media Player it comes up with an error saying it doesn't recognise the format (even though it's a WAV file). Regardless of this i decide to burn them onto the CD anyway, which was a mistake because when played in a CD player all you hear is static noise with the faint sound of the track underneath.
So what's happening? Is Goldwave not converting the MP3's properly? I know its not anything to do with my Cd Writer as i've copied CD's before.

Hi
I've never used goldweave, but I have had grat sucess with musicmatch jukebox & a app that came with my SBL MP3+ card called soundforge.
You can download a try out version of music match at http://www.musicmatch.com/home/
Good Luck

You can use winamp to do the conversion. Go to their website for a tutorial on how...careful with that equalizer function they have.
I prefer MP3 To WAV from www.acoustica.com Sounds better to me (!). Worth the money, and the latest version has the option of normalizing your files.

your problem is that goldwave isn't converting the mp3's to wave in the proper mode.
the proper mode should be about 16 bit stereo so when you go to save as a wave choose this option
hope this works for ya

Try using a differnt program. I use Musicmatch like biff but the trouble is it dosen't convert the mp3 into a cd quality wav and CD Creator won't burn a music cd unless it's so. After converitng mp3 to wav with MusicMatch I had to up the Hz's and KB's with either Sound Forge (like biff) or SB Wave studio. In essence, a double conversion process (pain in the ****). Example, mp3 converted to wav @ 24,000Hz 16Bit Stereo 94Kb. Try to burn that wav and CD Creator gives error message requiring higher wav format as in- 44,000Hz 16Bit Stereo 172Kb's. Wish there was a program that converted mp3's while burning. An all-in-one thing. Maybe there is and I'm too dumb to know about it!

You may be doing an unnecessary step. I use Adaptec EZ CD Creator. It will create an audio .cda CD directly from .mp3s or .wavs!
