Important: Sysopt.com Users 2002 Website is UP and RUNNING!!!

If any members of the team (or anyone else for that matter) has anything to contribute then please send me an e-mail at: chris.morton@tenerife1.com and i'll fit it into the page somewhere.

I am especially interested in getting some user profiles together so if you have info that you would like to submit about yourself then mail me with any or all of the following details:

    Nickname
    Real Name
    Age/Date Of Birth
    Nationality
    Location
    Job
    Hobbies/Interests
    System Specs
    Photo
Anything else you want to submit.

Any ideas for inclusion in the site you might as well just post here for discussion.

    thanks for the help guys.

BTW I am looking for a good host for the site, pref. free but a good cheap one is better than a crappy free one, so any ideas on that would be good. Also Ideas for a domain name (a possibility).

I posted something in Programming and Web Developement cuz I haven't got a clue.

Running searches on Google gives alot of sites but you don't know if they're any good.

I'm sure there are alot of people on the forum that have experience so we'll probably have better luck right here.

We got a couple of responses so far. Looks like you will definitely have to spend something to get a domain name and all. Check it out.
Mostly depends on how much content you intend to have and whether you have downloadable files.

will most likely be links to downloads rather than actual downloads so i don't have to worry about keeping up with different versions of programs. link to where they are and that way they are always current.

BTW SetiHide 1.5.4.4 has just been released today.

Any offers on providing information? I have my own one done already, I'm just looking for other stuff to put on the site now.

I have links to the Win client, CLI and setihide as well as short guides on getting them running. anyone have a link for the seti team website?

I was thinking of something like www.sysoptseti.com, www.sysopt-seti.com, www.seti-sysopt.com etc. or maybe www.setiatsysopt.com? not sure yet though but its $35 so i'd best be sure before i go ahead with it. I've sent a message to Steve R Jones about it all so hopefully he'll have some ideas about how to proceed without upsetting the big cheese's at sysopt.com.

I have made many websites by using web programs like Net Objects Fusion 4.0. For the web site hosting go to www.brinkster.com they have 30 mb space which is free and have no banners.

To make the domain name shorter you can register a free www.cjb.net domain name at www.cjb.net
Example: Then the site would look like
    www.sysopt2002users.cjb.net

That should be about all you need for now.

    Hello,

I'm just chiming in here. I like the idea of a site name that's easy to remember and sticks with the conventional ".com" ending. I'm completely ignorant about copyright issues, but www.setiatsysopt.com gets my vote.

    Also, I got a nice deal on a two-year registration through www.buydomain.com.

any name that is chosen will have to be given the OK by the guys here at Sysopt.com. If they don't agree with any particular name then it won't happen, so we need to be open to other ideas about a name.

We might end up qwith something obscure and i'll have to create a re-direct address to use like 'http:/jump.to/some clever name' or similar.

Not to get ahead of myself, but if sysopt can't be included in the name, here's some (hopefully less obscure) names available from a quick search:

    setiteam.com
    werelistining.com
    whosoutthere.com
    somethingsoutthere.com
    moreidletime.com
    seticrunch.com
    crunchteam.com
    cruchguys.com

    setiplanet.com
    setidomain.com
    onlineseti.com
    justseti.com
    virtualseti.com
    allseti.com
    bestseti.com
    coolseti.com
    cyberseti.com
    megaseti.com
    moreseti.com
    setidirect.com
    setiland.com
    setination.com
    setiplace.com
    setitime.com
    superseti.com

    I wonder who bought setisysopt.biz?

www.moreidletime.com sounds pretty cool. anyone else like it?

oh and lets have it with some profiles folks or I'm going to be the only one!!!

would anyone like to write setup guides or reviews of popular seti related software? first come first served. after all we're going to need more than just a domain name!!!

    less use of your PC means it has 'm o r e i d l e t i m e' which means that you get more WU's crunched.

    makes sense to me.
