    Adding 2nd HD Need Help??????????

I am wanting to add a second (slave drive ) to my current system and am having some problems. My main HD (30GB- IBM) is partitioned into three drives and I am attempting to add a 40GB -WD as a slave to this. However, when I go to set-up it wants to assign the drive letter of this new drive to (D , which I currently am using as part of my initial drive. And if I let it do it then all my program files in my current (D drive will be mis-assigned. I am just trying to add this second drive as just a data drive and not a boot-drive......... I need help real bad so any advice would be appreicated.........

I am running Win98SE just in case that matters..........

    Thanks...........

Why not use the partitioning software or just windows to change you existing D drive to X or Z or anything other than D. That way your new one can be D. You can always swicth back after.

If I understand you correctly, I think what you want to do is to use Fdisk on your 40 gb. Create a secondary partition using the entire 40gb. Then create logical drives on this secondary partition if you want to "subdivide" this secondary partition into smaller divisions. The letters for these logical drives will come sequentially after the letters on your primary drive. I think this is what you were looking for. If not, post back. Biglaker
