    ATX power supply to AT

    is there a cheap way to do this? i have a bunch of 200watt ATX's and i want to make soem(or one) into AT so i can power my fans or more drives. someone told me you jsut have to make a switch and use it to cross 2 wires..

    This is all that you need. You plug one end into your ATX PSU and the other into your AT motherboard.

    Well, that ATX to AT adapter should be all you need, but that $10 min. order thing is kinda dumb. Our computer shops have these, might check locally. We have an old computer store that deals in a lot of legacy equipment, and they are very helpful in finding old parts like this. Usually small cheap parts like this aren't worth mail ordering if you can get them local - especially with the min. order requirement.

    the thing is i don't want to plug it into a mobo
    it is to power my fanbus. but i did get it to work jsut like the link i gave said. all i need is to go buy a switch and i'll have my self a 200watt fan psu. thanks for the help anyway.

    Well on an AT system, the switch goes straight to the power supply, and is not switched through the Mobo like an ATX is. If you plug the adapter in, it should have a lead and a switch coming off of it that will bypass any mobo and just give you straight power. It should work wether it's plugged into a mobo or not, but I could be wrong.
