what would no display mean?

im trying to overclock my compaq presario 7360
i think ive tried every single different jumper setting for what i think is the only set of jumpers that effect cpu speed

and its an amd k6-2 500 MHz
the highest ive gotten it so far is 550

so what do i have to do or adjust to try to get it to atleast 600

there are 2 settings
that cause the computer to boot up but it displays nothing on the monitor but my tower acts just like its booting up
the settings are
500MHZ = off ON ON ON
no display = ON ON off ON
= ON ON ON off

550 = ON ON off off

so what does anyone think i should do or can do..?

Unless you can increase the VCore voltage (which you can't on Compaqs) then you are lucky you hit 550 MHz and are still stable.

id say its very stable
ive had my comp on since last night
running games and idleing and etc etc
just wish i could get more heh

Part of your problem is that you're running up against the physical limits of your CPU. AMD's .25micron process K6-2 limited out at about 600MHz under the best of conditions, and in a Compaq isn't the best of conditions.

Most K6-2's require both additional cooling and extra voltage to have a chance of making 600MHz. Even then you won't be guaranteed.

Take the 10% improvement and run with it. You successfully O/C'd a Compaq, not many can say that.
