finding a bios upgrade
can anyone tell me where i can download a bios upgrade for a phoenix 4.0 release 6.0.5 rev. 2.05. i have a hp pavilion 8754c 800eb processor. asus 1.08 motherboard. that does not have a boot password in the bios.any help would be appreciated.
go to hp.com and enter the model number and it will give you any updates available for your computer. many of the parts are specific to hp and most upgrades as far as drivers and bios upghrades must come from them. same for dell, compaq and gateway

Normally what Iowaboy suggested would work fine, but you mention an Asus motherboard which you must have upgraded your system with.
Check here for BIOS updates:
Actually, HP uses ASUS motherboards in many of their computers. They are almost like the retail version, but have some special HP-only features. For instance, HP doesn't allow the FSB to be changed, so instead of jumpers, solder bridges are used. 2 years ago I had a 8655C with a Celeron 533 and wanted to put a PIII 800 on it but I did not want to cut bridges and get the pencil iron out. I considered a MB change, but the whimpy 165watt P/S and non-standard depth case caused me to give up on that too. Instead I built an Athlon 800 system and it cost less to buy the AMD chip and motherboard than it would have cost to buy the Intel chip only. I threw in the towel and gave the HP to my sister-in-law. They were using a P100 before so a Celeron 533 was a big boost for them.
