Reboot problem on Asus a7n266-vm
Hi there....
I've just built up a new Duron 1,2 Ghz, 256 DDR (in the second slot)system on the Asus a7n266-vm motherboard. The pc boots up perfectly, post has no errors, temp is fine. My problem is that it will not reboot it, it just shuts down and at the point where it would restart, it hangs and I just get a blank screen. Even if I CRL-ALT-DEL or press the reset button I get the same thing. Occasionly at the point where it hangs the post gives me memory bleep. I have to power off and power-on.
I have a maxtor 40 gig drive, samsung DVD drive, Modem in PCI slot 3.
I am using the onboard GPU and sound.
Jumperless settings initially didn't work, had to set the jumpers to 100 Mhz FSB and 133 Mhz MEM.I've updated to the latest Bios version.
Is anyone aware of a known problem like this, is there a jumper setting i'm missing out on, a Bios setting, anything!!! I'm at my wits-end here.

I would suggest two things:
1. a BIOS update
2. disable Standby, Hibernate and hard drive shutdown in Control Panel > Power Options

I've flashed to 1003.004 bios version. But it doesn't change anything....
I don't think the problem is OS related as it has done since the first boot when there was no OS.
****, i dont know...When I get home i'm going swop out the PSU see if it helps.

The OS signals the BIOS of your intention to restart. Humor me.
Oh...triple-posting is a bad idea. I deleted your thread in Tech Support.

LOL, yeah thought maybe i'll get thrice the help then
Whether I ctrl-alt-del or go >start>shutdown>restart or hit the reset switch...It does the same thing.
If I then power-off and power-on and it is boots fine.
I get no display, no post, no boot. Fans are still going board still has power.
**** if i think of any other details I'll post them.....I'm off home now, will try a different PSU then.
