Wont boot up past network screen...

i log in under Novell... it asks me to press ctrl+alt+del, when i do the login screen doesn't pop up... there is network activity, the computer doesn't freeze, lights still flash, still makes "thinking" noise... OS is Windows NT 4.0... i tried booting up with the original configuration, but the same thing happened...

any hardware problem that might be causing this?
    i'm stumped...

    Update...

After leaving the screen for a few minutes, a message pops up stating "An unexpected error occured with WINLOGON.exe "

then before i click Ok, it goes to a blue screen saying [FATAL SYSTEM ERROR]
then begins dump of physical memory...

i can't even get into the system...
it might be some sort of virus

have you tried F8 at boot and console recovery\repair.
give it a whirl, it beats a format.
