would this modfiy work?
First, u need to goto Start, then run. Type in regedit in the box. Next,
goto the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\VxD\MS TCP
Now, find the string DefaultRcvWindow. Now, edit the number to 64240
then restart your computer. There you go. High speed cable modem now
with out dloading a program. Original value is 373360
I got this off a txt file from imesh, I'm not fimiliar with registry editing, anyone try this before?
Did not understood. Sorry!
So, in ENGLISH, please:
What does THAT do?
Its talking about how to increase the TCP Recieve Window without having to d/l a software program to do it for you. It certainly gives a cable or dsl connection a performance boost. The DefaultRcvWindow defines the size of a 'window' of packets that can be sent before a reciept is returned that the packets were sent. If you really want it explained by the best , read it here . The idea is to get the window not to big or not to small.
There are only 2 tweak settings I find that do make a performance boost for a cable modem.
The MaxMTU value should apply to all the NetTrans keys(0000,0001,etc.) that have DriverDesc = "TCP/IP"
The recommended RcvWindow for normal latency is 32767, for high latency its 65535. You can experiement with settings in between.
It does work.
