    EZ-Disk??

WTF is EZ-Disk? Boot Magic keeps telling me that EZ-Disk is loaded on my drive and that I need to run it and then reinstall Boot Magic. Where can I find EZ-Disk? I sure can't find it on my HDD.

    Thanx

Start the machine in DOS and at the command prompt type EZ and it will come up.

EZ disk is a utility for setting up a HD.

You might be better off using the HD manufactors disk and wiping the drive out and starting over.

EZ disk is in the boot sector of the drive.

Are you sure it is "EZ-Disk" and not EZ-Drive? EZ-Disk is an external hard drive.

If it is on your drive it is likely you need it because of a BIOS limitation. It is a drive overlay software that fools the BIOS into thinking the drive is smaller. It is installed before any OS can be and I doubt typing EZ at a DOS promt will show anything but an error, I may be wrong though. You will need the ez-drive/bios disk, from the the hd manufaturer to get rid of it or fdisk /mbr several times which does not always work and can give you a huge headach.

    how to remove EZ-BIOS

Yup...My Bad It is EZ-Drive. Since my new HDD is a maxtor could I run Maxblast? I have a question into Power Quest about it, but have always gotten better advice from this forum.

VaCreeper, Maxblast should work just fine on your system if it is going to be new install, Maxblast will override the Bios so it should work. With whatever OS, say Win95, Win98, etc, it should setup the drive for you, partition and format the HD for you to. One step better would be to upgrade you Bios check at www.motherboards.org its under downloads, Bios Upgrades. With a upgraded Bios your system should recognize the larger HD on its own. Good Luck
