what video card should i get?

im upgrading my integrated video and mobo and im not quite sure what to get. i was looking at eather a geforce4 mx 440, a geforce3 ti 500, or a radeon 8500 64 mb. at the most i want to spend $180. the computer is mostly used for gaming (diablo 2, half-life, and gta3 possible going to buy max payne). im running 900 mhz t-bird with 256 mb pc 133 ram. im not sure what mobo its going to be on because im shopping for one tomorrow but i was looking at the soyo k7-vta pro

For about $180 you can get GeForce4 Ti4200, this would be your best bet. BUT ... it's gonna be bottlenecked by your processor
900MHz T-Bird is not enough anymore for this type of videocards, GeForce3 Ti500 and up are need a CPU of about 1.5GHz to unleash their potential (you'll be limited to "low" resolutions, let's say 1024x768x32bit maximum, any higher than this will slow you down).

I have a Geforce 2 Ti and I can run q3 at 1024X768 with everything maxed out on my p3 450 so shouldn't he get a little bit better results than that ND? Or do games now really demand that much proc. power? I may have to rethink my upgrade plans.

If you wana spend 180$ get a Gf4 Ti 4200.. even though it's gonna be bottlenecked by your processor, You can updrade our Processor later when you want, GO FOR IT.
