    I Finally Overclocked

Today I finally overclocked mt P4 1.8A to 2G, cant seem to get any higher without increasing the Vcore, my P4 is at 2050Mhz, with a FSB of 114Mhz and the Vcore set to the normal 1.5V.

Congrats you have entered the world of Overclocking. I bet you can go farther with raising the Vcore. Give it a try, it's only money.

    Good luck

What mobo is it. I have fixed agp/pci dividers at 120fsb. I hit it with ease. No vcore boost at all and its a Williamette. Barely changes the temp. at all. Northwoods are better at O'clocks as we all know and the vcore is lower. I dont think it is vcore really. I think it is HDD or other periphials stopping you. I know if this cpu can go +20mhz fsb without a vcore boost that one can too!

Mine does fine untill I hit 133mhz. Then it needs a vcore boost. This is due to the new P4's. The are the same vcore volts as other northwoods. So at 133mhz my mobo is fixed to the vcore of northwood. Why? Only way I can figure is to keep the fsb moderate as to prevent the Intel chipset from over heating. This mobo goes to 155mhz fsb. So a 2.5A would run avg. of +20mhz fsb over the 133fsb stock. Hence the 155mhz fsb. It balances out very well. So you can O'clock a new P4 on this mobo. Point is that the vcore is most likely not the prob. at such a low O'clock. Usually isnt till over +20 fsb. For you 120mhz for the new P4 153mhz or 155mhz. Sorry about the long post. Check to see if you have any fixed multi settings for the fsb ratio and if so try 120fsb. Good luck.

I'm jealous. I've been reading sysopt's overclocking stuff (very Athlon centred) in an attempt to figure this stuff out and overclock my P4.

I've got a P4 1.6 but it's on a D845WN Intel motherboard (beggars can't be choosers). Am I SOL with an intel board? I don't seem to have one of the favorites for overclocking, but I'd love to turn this thing up a notch or two.

If anyone has any sources that would walk me through the process, it would be much appreciated.... then I can post a thread saying "Today I finally overclocked my P4!".

    Thanks,
    T
