    No UDMA on Windows XP

Here's a great problem. I just moved my 2 Ulta ATA Maxtor HDs from a addin IDE controller to my mother boards built in controller after I just upgraded my mobo. The stang thins is that now windows xp has decided to only use the disk in PIO mode and will not change it. Any help would be appresheated. Thanks.

Run a repair on XP. Boot from the CD and select Setup > F8 > Install > Repair. Do not select Repair using the Recovery Console.

XP is probably being stubborn. It needs a swift kick.

That tip worked perfectly, even fixed the cd-rom drives DMA modes.
