Anyone actually have a geforce 4 4200 ti?

I've read a lot of reviews and heard people talk about the prices, but I don't know anyone who actually has a 4200 ti. I've heard conflicting reports about if they are available or not. If you do have one, can you tell me if you have 64 or 128 memory, and what you think about it?

    Thanks!

They're available, not widely thou yet. Didn't get it myself, but main difference :
    64MB version clocked 250/250
    128MB version clocked 250/444
    That's all

    P.S. Aopen released 128MB clocked 250/250. Freaks

Yeah, I knew the clock speed was different, but I was wondering how much it mattered. I just don't have a good idea of what under 64 megs of graphics memory vs over looks like. Would it be fair to say that most recent games use over 64 megs?

Maybe I'll have just to get the AOpen card

Thanks! And if anyone actually does get one, please let me know...

64MB vs 128MB doesn't really matter when it's about nVIDIA card of GeForce3/4 class. Only if you doing 4x FSAA at above 1280x1024x32bit resolutions, and even than the difference is very little. You can take the higher clocked 64MB card without any second thoughts (or take the Aopen card if you really want it ).

Now would that 128MB make a big difference in terms of 3D modeling and animation compared to 64MB?

Thanks for the advice! I did see some benchmarks where the 128 meg would be better because there was more than 64 megs of texture memory, but I think those were artificial. Otherwise the faster memory speed was better. I'll have to see how much more the AOpen card costs

I managed to get a hold of a 64mb one. A nice improvement over my GF3 Ti 200 in both speed and IQ, I'm gonna test it's overclocking later.

I was reading that the 4200 ti cards are just now being shipped. Anandtech had a review of the gaintech recently. Hopefully I'll be able to find one soon, although I'm holding out for see some reviews/comparisons.

    I thought the
    64MB version is 250/250 (250/500 DDR)
    128MB version is 250/222 (250/444 DDR)

Bigger number im assuming are faster right?
STrange that they'd make a a 128version with slower memory speed. If your going to add more memory to the card at least make it as fast or faster than the lesser memory one.

Jimstep : you right, my bad ... typo

    64MB - 250MHz core /250MHz DDR memory (500MHz effective)
    128MB - 250MHz core /222MHz DDR memory (444MHz effective)

    Get the 64MB version !!!

I heard that they slowed down the memory speed on the 128 meg version to offset the cost of the extra memory.

So I wonder how much more that AOpen will cost. Maybe not more, but it'll only last half as long from being oc'd. Still, given that this is a new low end video card it'll be out of date a week after I buy it.

Well, I'm bad...I broke down and purchased the 128Mb version. It was on the BestBuy shelf and in my hands. Couldn't resist. Overpriced, but with a small rebate coupon.

But I cannot get RTCW to run under XP. Get a pop up box that says "Error" with an Okay button.

Anyway, I'll be running my tests...

Just wanted to recap that I got RTCW to work. I had to delete the 3dfx and glide files that were left over from my Voodoo3 2000.

    Initial benchmark

    MSI 6330 mobo K7T133a
    1.4Ghz Athlon TB cpu
    640Mb 133Mhz cl2 ram
    VisionTek G4Ti4200 128Mb DDR (27.51 drivers)
    WinXP Pro

    3DMark2001 score = 7402 (default settings)

    I haven't tried any overclocking...yet.

Also noticed that the XP drivers on the cdrom that came with the card are not XP certified. That is odd, being a new product hot off the shelves.

None of them are "XP certified" yet, even the newest ones. Don't know why, maybe an email to nVIDIA will help ?

    Congrats on the new Toy
