Yes it can be shared, but the network cards need to be fast 100 MB ones for smooth playback.

    Yep.

Firstly both computers have to have the same login and pass to see each other on the network.

I suggest making a new user, 'Admin' with the same password on each machine, make sure each one has admin rights and set it to autologin to 'Admin' account on both machines.

On your machine, go to the folder you want to share, right click and go to sharing. Choose share this folder, then I'd advise unselecting full rights, just let him have read access.

Restart -> both machines should be able to see each other in Network on desktop, then 'Computers near me'.

Happy sharing, BTW for any other folders you wanna share just right click and do the sharing selection thing. After you set up the login **** everything else is stright forward.

well before i read that last post i made some changes that dont work.
-login and pass are the same on both machines
-my computer name is RED , workgroup is WORKGROUP
-his computer name is BLUE , workgroup is WORKGROUP
-i've shared the folder and set permissions on my box
-i've enabled file and print sharing and client for microsoft networks on the NIC that connects to him/and on his machine to me

in My Network Places/Entire Network/Microsoft Windows Network/Workgroup there are no computers i cant see him and he cant see me on his machine.
what have i done wrong? everythings messed now im at a loss.. i also enabled the server service if that made a difference? i dunno..
