Win XP help
I want to install XP Pro in a second partition with Win2K. How do you import the files, and programs from Win2K partition?? Is there an easy way so you can run Win2K in the event of problems with XP.

You can't "import" programs from Win2K and expect them to work. You need to install those programs in XP in order to register them with XP. Only then will they function properly.
When you start the system after installing WinXP, you are presented with a choice of which Windows version to start. It couldn't be much easier.
Put in the WinXP CD and select "New Installation". Click Advanced and select "I want to select the location to install to" or similar. Continue and select the second partition after setup begins on restart.

What I did was the following: I assigned to my D: partition XP, and the programs I want to run are on C:which is Win2k. How do you locate the programs in C: to run while you are on D:. I hope I haven't confused.

Yes you have.
You have to install the programs in question to WinXP to use them. If you have and they're on C:, then you don't have to worry. Even if Win2K won't start, you can still use those programs.

I just wanted to be current. Would I be better off staying with win2k Prp, or in your opiniom WinXP Pro is the better way to go in the long run.

It all depends on performance. If WinXP runs smoothly on your hardware, I would upgrade - or at least use it the most. It's feature set is awesome. I keep Win2K as a dual-boot option on this PC in case of an emergency. I can access my files with it.
I still love Win2K. It does 90% of what XP does and can do it on a Celeron 400 - quickly. XP gags on anything under 700Mhz.

Thanks for all your GREAT input. How does this sound. I will full install XP-Pro in a separate partition, and then install programs that I use most of all into it. If they run well I will shrink the win2k partition with partition magic as I get better with it. I already ghosted my original HDD with a duplicate drive in case it gets screwed up. How does it sound??
