Welcome to SysOpt!
Is this a USB mouse? Is the USB controller sharing an IRQ with your sound card? Look in System Information > Hardware Resources > IRQs. As a matter of fact, click anywhere in the right pane and then press CTRL-A and then CTRL-C. You have copied that data to the clipboard. Paste that data in a reply here.

Ok...if you're not using the Com ports, disable them in BIOS setup. If you have a USB printer, disable the LPT port too. Find "Reset Configuration Data" in BIOS setup and enable it. It may be called Reset ESCD or NVRAM too.
Restart and try again.

Update or uninstall the mouse software and try again. It may be bad mouse drivers. You should also seek new sound card drivers. Try the support pages for your PC maker.
If no joy, repair XP. Boot from the CD and select Setup > F8 > Install > Repair without the Recovery Console.

Thanks For Your Help, but none of that worked so i just installed windows 98 and it works fine.

May it be because the video and sound are on the same IRQ?

I just finished "reviewing" a Toshiba wimpy Satellite 700Mhz/194MB RAM laptop which once had ME on it. I remember this thing as being a DOG. Someone installed WinXP Pro on it. It flies now.
I don't want to hear about XP sucking anymore. It's hardware or it's upgrading another OS that makes the XPerience stink. Clean installs work great on decent hardware.
Yoko Ono used to harp on "experiencing" things. One day, Ringo Starr stuck his finger up his nose and said "Experience this.". That's what I have to say about ME.
