Motherboard box information

Aloha!

I'm having serious trouble with a local computer shop; I ordered a Atholn for a MSI K7T Pro2 mobo, and they gave me a CPU running at 133MHz FSB. My mobo doesn't support it and the guy tells me that he had a box for a MSI (wich I believe is the K7T266 Pro, 'cause I think that it's the only one that works @ 133MHz) and it says in the box MSI K7T Pro2. IF anyone has this mainboard, please tell me what it says about the model on the box. The dumb f**k won't admit that he made a mistake when checking the motherboard...obviously there is only a model called K7T Pro2...


I'm letting the Consumer Defense Associaton solve this...my patience is wearing thin, it looks like people that work in computer stores are 30% idiots and 40% con artists...

I don't see a box, but the MSI web site gives a full breakdown for both boards. I really don't follow your problem...both boards will run that CPU running at 133 fsb. OR...are you confused with the 133 fsb and the 266 term?...the boards do not run at 266 fsb, the 266 mhz comes in due to the passing of data on both the rise and fall ot the CPU cycle. No mainboard actually runs at 266 mhz fsb. Its confusing, but believe me..133 fsb is as high as they go at present, unless it is overclocked, and then..the fsb for most boards can only be clocked up to around 150 - 160 mhz.

Hum...what happened was this: I said "I wan't a Athlon 1GHz for a MSI K7T Pro2" ; this is my mobo, and it has a 100MHz FSB.

The guy at the shop picked up a motherboard box and told me it said "MSI K7T Pro2". This is because he gave me a CPU that runs with 133MHz FSB and it won't work properly in my motherboard!

Trouble is: the guy made a mistake, probably between MSI K7T Pro2 and MSI K7T266 Pro2, and now he won't admit it. I've been killing myself to find a box picture but it looks like it's impossible; I wanted to see what the box really says!

Think I'm gonna let the Consumer Defense handle this, before I let the medics handle his face; if it was my mistake I'd admit it...

Well, I was under the impression that any processor that will run at 133 mhz fsb will also run at 100 mhz fsb...that it is backwards compatable. For instance, I am using a K6-2 599 mhz cpu at this time, this cpu will run at 112 mhz, 100 mhz, 97? mhz, and on down to 66 mhz, the lowest bus speed on this motherboard. What speed is that cpu? 1 ghz? or more/less? can you read the specs from the core?..if you don't know for sure what it is?..

I'm sorry about the delay; about the info on the core, I'd seen it before and it reported a 133 MHZ bus; I haven't unlocked it yet, and I won't until I get this thing solved. Anyway, the mobo allows me to set the FSB to 132 and not more that this. Either way, the CPU will run @ 750 MHz

Guess what, I guy just passed by me today, and in his hand was a box that said "MSI K7T266 Pro2" - this was the box that the guy had in the store (finally I got lucky and saw it!). But I asked for a "MSI K7T Pro2". Who do you think is wrong on this issue?
