What I Would Do with $1554

    $270 Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHZ Socket 478
    $165 Abit BD-7 RAID Motherboard
    $169 512 Megabytes DDR PC2100 266MHz Ram
    $175 Western Digital 80 Gigabyte ATA-100 7200 RPM HD
$136 Antec SX1040B / Enermax File Server Case with Enermax 350 watt Power
    $250 Evga GeForce4 Ti 4400 128MB DDR AGP TV OUT / DVI
    $155 Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
    $139 Sony SPRESSA 32X/10X/40X EIDE Internal CD-ReWritable
$45 Sony 16X DVD/40X CD ROM INTERNAL EIDE
    $20 Vantec P4 Socket 478 Cooler
$20 Vantec Stealth Ultra Quiet Case Fan
    $10 Standard 1.44 Floppy Drive

    $1,554

Now , do u think those prices are accurate? Would u change anything on that list with a budget of around 16 or 17 hundred dollars? If so please comment , and let me know how u think this system would perform based on the components , or/and if there is anything that is missing , have fun , thanx

Only suggestion I have is change that DDRAM ram to RDRAM.

RDRAM performes better with The P4 than DDR.
    Prices also look pretty good.

    er, Memphis, eh

If you want to take advantage of the motherboard you've selected, consider getting two 40MB drives instead of the 80MB or add a 40MB drive.

Change the board to a dual Pentium Xeon procesers such as the Tyan Thunder i7500. With 12Gigs of DDR, two 180Gig SCSI HDD, two 2.4GHz Xeon Processors. Already has a 10/100/1000 network card built on. Also put the best Geforce 4 on it. This is my dream computer!!!

Build a computer it is out of date, build another one and its out of date, and so on!!! Then you have 11 runing and fully operational to network.

thats a good point , ive built my last 3 comps but ive had to either use the case from the last one or other parts like ram and hd's so i always just have 1 , but i still got the motherboards and processors , my last system was a PII 450 , and before that a pentium 233 , those two motherboards and processors were barely ever used , the 233 i bought to upgrade from a 133 then very soon after i got the 450 so i never actually used the 233 or the motherboard i bought for it , and the 450 i only used for a few months before gettin the athlon , i really should put them to work considering that they wont be good for much in the future...
