are you sure your running 3dmark2000 and not 2001 as that seems low for 2000 edition

Might be the video card...I'm pretty new to this but I got 7788 (3dMark 2001SE) with my XP1800, 512MB PC2700 and Radeon 8500. I ran it at 1024x768x32 triple frame buffer noAA, Pure HW T&L. Nothing OC'd.

I got a great deal on my card...$139 after rebate.

I've just taken a quick look on 3DMark2001SE's compare thingy and most systems there with your specs are getting around 4000-5000, so there's a bottleneck in your system somewhere.

Have you got some dodgy drivers? Download the latest from here - Detonator 28.90 drivers (2000/XP).

I just did this on mine and over the factory supplied drivers my 3DMark2001SE score went up by about 400. Not a bad little boost eh?

Failing that it probably IS your graphics card. I have more or less the same system as you except I have a GF4Ti4600 - and I'm getting more like 10,000 on 3DMark2001SE. A good investment (if you want to spend money, that is) would probably be the Radeon 8500 - it's cheaper than a bag of crisps now and would probably boost your scores to over 8000.

    Hope that helps

    Rick

Also if that mobo uses the VIA chipset, make sure you download the latest 4in1's for it... That alone is good for quite a few points if you haven't installed them.

    EDIT:
OK, that board DOES use the VIA chipset... So go here: http://www.spacewalker.com/english/download.htm and find your model mobo (there are 3 different versions of that model) under the "Download Drivers" section and download that latest 4in1's... Also download the latest detonator drivers as already mentioned and run 3dmark again and see what happens. Good luck!
