    US Robotics 36.6 Win-Modem and Win 98

A friend has aquired a US Robotics Pcmcia Win-Modem running at 33.6Kbs..

I have attemted to Locate Drivers for the above but have been Unable to Aquire any..

I have noticed many reports with regards to this Modem and the Problems in installing it in a Laptop..

Others have stated that Drivers that have been located crash the PC on Start-Up..

Does anyone have any experience of this Modem ?...

    One other Question..

How do I restore the file Winmodem.cpl as Windows cannot Install the Modem anyways without it..

Your Views and Ideas would be of Great Help..

    Tnx

    Rob..

US Robotics should have drivers to support the WinModem. Personally, they should have never allowed WinModems to be marketed. They only work with windows and they use your processor to run. I has one for awhile and went back to an external serial modem on my desktop computer. Much better connection, plus the modem handles all the modem processing and frees my pc cpu for other tasks.
