My new system.... Help me OC!

I just put together my new system and I'm really happy with it!

    Here it is:

Athlon xp 1800+ with Thermaltake Volcano 7
    Soyo Dragon +
Geforce 3 (Hercules 3d Prophet III)
    640 mb ram

It was quite a deal, got the Athlon, MB, and 128 mb mushkin ram as a package deal for $249. Pulled the video card from my old system, and added more ram. Also got a killer deal on a case: came with a 350w PS, front USB ports, plus it came with 6 case fans installed. They are the nice ones with temp sensors built in that control the speed. There are four installed at the front intake, one on the side panel and one in the back. (Yes it sounds like a small jet). This case was only $59. I've been really pleased with the performance of this system so far, but I'd like to OC it a bit. The BIOS allows 1mhz increments of OCing the FSB. Any suggestions of what and how? I have OCed a system before but this BIOS seems to be much more complicated than my other one. I'd really appreciate suggestions from someone who also has used this MB.

Also, I have a question about the FSB that maybe someone can answer. What should this system be running at, because in the BIOS it says it's running at 133 FSB. Is this right? I thought that it was supposed to be 266.

    Thanks!

Try upping the FSB up that 1 or 2 mhz at a time.
    Moniter the temps,.
Plus run virus scan games ect after each upping to make sure it is stable.
if you have good temps and are stable up the FSB up a bit more.

Your chip should be running at 133

    133=266
    as a 100mhz bus =200mhz bus.

With quality ram and cooling, you should be easily able to run the fsb up to 147-150...the Xp's are multiplier locked, so FSB increases are the only option short of chip surgery to close the bridges. My xp1600 runs stable as a rock at 150 fsb

    Thanks for your help.

I tried changing the FSB and was succesful until I got to 141, where I couldn't even get Windows to load successfully.

    How disappointing.....

    Any suggestions?

I didn't notice that much difference with the temps but that fan/HS is a pretty good one so I think it's doing it's job. Either that or I'm not even to the point where there might be a temp increase.....

Suggestion if you haven't already done so get WinXP Pro...your fsb will stablize at a higher speed.

Too pricey? Look at my thread here for WinXP Pro @ $127

Watch your AGP and PCI bus speeds. Depending on your BIOS features, you might be dragging them up along with the FSB, and some cards are pickier than others.

Also check your memory CAS settings. Set at CAS 3 for better OC potential.
