Your opinion on mad oinion score
I have a 1gz Athlon with a creative g3 ti200 vid bord via kt133 chips sb live sound have a mad oinion score of 6200 is this good bad or inderefent.

6200 is a very resonable score.
Do you have DDR RAM or PC1xx, and how much of it ?
The limiting factors would be your CPU and PC1xx RAM, as I have seen GF3 Ti2's getting 9000+ on systems with near 2Ghz processors and 1.5GB of DDR RAM. I have also seen 'ATI's answer to Geforce 3' getting only 3550 on systems with Athlon XP's, 133 bus speed mobos and DDR RAM.
Could also possibly the mobo, speeds have increased a lot internally for mobos recently.
Your score seems fine, if not a little better for the system you have got !

Have 512mb sd ram 100hz, and 100hz mobo Via kt133 chipset 1gz athlon.
Thanks for you comments.

I think thats pretty good for a TI200. I got 5640 on Athlon 900 with a TI500. Card is not overclocked or tweaked, just a fresh install of XP. You have a link to your score?

Thats a pretty good score for a non-overclocked Athlon 1Ghz machine. Plus, it looks like you're only running PC100 memory though. I get scores between 6200 to 6300 with an overclocked Duron 1GHz@1241 and oc'ed GeForce 3 (230/535). I only score around 6000 with stock speeds.

ok i will come clean,
the hardwere i have quoted is true, 1gz Athlon 512mb pc100 sd ram VIA kt133 CHIPSET 100hz mobo with Creative G3 ti200 Video board Creative sb live Sound Card.
BUT is has been Fine tuned/tweeked.
The Athlon is running at 1.1 it all it would go, the memeory is set cas2/133 and works well, mobo would not budge still 100hz the bigest jump was in the G3 220/500 25% up all though i think i will back this off a little.
I did not intende to decive i just did not think the over clocking made that much diferance.

My XP 1700+ and 768 mb pc-133 SD and GF2 Ti (GF2 overclocked) only get about 5500 ... Memory is my bottleneck... need DDR
My board is tha Abit KT7A-RAID with KT133A chipset...

Of coz having DDR on same system would be nice, but I think your bigger bottleneck is the videocard. I used to get around 3700 points in 3DMark2001SE with 1GHz Athlon/256MB PC133 and GF2Pro, now I'm getting about 5200 points with same setup and GF3Ti200. Go figure

6500 on a P4 1.5 256mb rdram pc800 (turbo) and G3 original.
The video card is everything on that bench- trust me. Had a V3-G2 MX400 and a G3 all run on 3dmark2001. Now the G3 on a P3 scored way lower but it was only 600mhz which supports the fact that cpu is important tilll you hit like 1gig and higher. Then it is more about the video card.
P.S. thats everything @ stock!

Not sure what to think here....I have Asus KT266A board with 1700+, 128Meg, OC'd to 1.56Mhz and a Cardex GF2 GTS, 64Meg OC'd to 210/385 and I am only getting 3975 on 3DMark2001 and get 6020 on 3DMark2000 is something wrong with my setup or is this about normal for what i have? Help......if needed!

Thats not bad for a o'clocked GF2 GTS. You at your cards limits Id say! Sure isnt the rest of the system thats for sure!

Hi All,
First for BJUK,
6200 is pretty good for your setup. You don't mention drivers but I figured you know that certian ones do a lot better for some in 3Dmark than others. I've personally seen a few hundred point swing. Also, "tweaking" driver features using utilities such as Rivatuner can also add/subtract hundreds of points. Example being running in high quality mode vs. running in high performance.
Also, you don't mention "tweaking" the gpu/memory settings of the GF3 Ti200. Depending on brand and memory quality you can likely get another 500 points+ by raising the gpu/memory speeds.
Example: my GF3 Ti200 ran 6100 out of the box. After tweaking the card to beyond GF3 Ti500 speeds and running in high performance mode I've reached 7600 points in 3Dmark 2001 without any tweaking of the cpu/main memory/fsb....only video card (timings, drivers).
Finally I've written a few times on the subject that for 3Dmark. While video card does play a huge role, don't underestimate the impact of fsb/memory and cpu speeds. Just check the database for yourself.......
Example (mainly cut and paste from one of my other posts):
While video card does matter so does the rest of the system. Example:
3Dmark2000 (Madonion)
all top marks (first page) using a GF MX400, 1024x768x32
PII400--2500-3000
PIII500--2700-3600
PIII800--3900-4800
Athlon 1.4--4200-5300
So moving from a PII400 to a 1.4 Athlon can double your score.
OTOH, While a video card does matter.....if it's matched with a slow processor then the cpu becomes your bottleneck. Example:
GF3, 1024x768x32 on a PII400--3134....ouch!!! not much better than the MX400 above.
The question is where's the bottleneck that will keep absolute speeds low? In today's computers (for 3D games) the bottleneck is generally either the video card or cpu.
In my post where I show a GF3 with a PII400 only getting 3000+ 3Dmark 2000 score shows that the cpu is definitely the bottleneck. It cannot keep up with a GF3 and hinders performance greatly. Now pair a GF3 with a Athlon 1.4 and see your scores shoot to over 8,000 (Madonion.com)!
So even a GF MX400 is a bit limited in performance if paired with a PII400 since the benchmarks show that as it's paired with faster cpus the 3Dmark scores increase. Once the scores level off (for a GX400 that appears to be a PIII800 and greater) then the bottleneck comes back to the video card.
Regards,
JeffD
