If your drive is partitioned (subdivided into further drives such as a primary partition and secondary partition (the secondary partition being assigned logical drive(s))) then the hard disk is treated as several individual hard drives.
In this case each assigned drive can be individually defragged.
You would use a programme such as fdisk, gdisk or partition magic to subdivide your hard disk into partitions/logical drives.

Partition Magic is something I have been meaning to look into. That may be the answer to solve alot of my problems
Where can I learn about it?

It is sometimes given away on PC Magazine cover disks. worth looking out for. PCPlus magazine has given away two versions of it in the past 12 months.
