HELP! I need a new PC under $1,100.00
Greetings!
I am in need of a new PC. I was looking at the DELL 2.0 refurbished PC for 1100.00
The main or core basics
P4 2.0
RDRAM 512
40 GB
I was also looking at TigerDirect with the AMD chipset which appears to be faster. Has anyone bought used benchmarked any of these systems? Are there any other good systems for under a grand or should I just build one?
Thanks fo your time..

If you want to and you know how, it would be cheaper to build one. You can build that same dell system for probably around $900. (I think)

Could you share with us what other parts is in this DEVIL( I am dell)
Motherboard?
Video card?
The motherboard is the most important part of any system.
You could be getitng some junkie PC-chips board that is a waste of time, money, and an underperformer.

Hi All!
I am not sure what the motherboard is. Here are the specs I know from the Dell:
Dimension® 8200 Series, Pentium® 4 Processor at 2.0 GHz, Integrated Audio
512MB PC800 ECC RDRAM (4 RIMMS)
80 GB EIDE Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
64MB nVIDIA GEFORCE2 MX w/TV Out
56K Telephony Modem for Windows-Sound Option
10/100 PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
8X DVD Drive and 8X/4X/32X Combo
Microsoft Windows® XP Home Edition
all for $1,075.00
Would I be better off buidling one? I have an extra 20 GB hard rive that I could use. Or would something like this Tiger be the better?
Tiger system:
Systemax Athlon XP2100 256MB DDR / 80GB / DVD / CDRW / Windows XP Home Desktop Computer
for $1100

You can get a great machine for less than $1100. I just built one from the ground up for $1350.
Asus A7V333
AthlonXP1800
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB
512MB DDR 2700 (333mhz)
Lian-Li PC7 USB Aluminum Case
Enermax 365W PS
80GB 7200 RPM Western Digital
24x10x32 CDR
16x48 DVD
Audigy Gamer
Creative 5.1 speakers
Round IDE/Floppy cables
Keyboard and Mouse
I used my existing Floppy, NIC, monitor and Win98 License.
I'm not finished tweaking but my 3DMark 2001 SE score at 1024X768X32bit with triple frame buffer is 7788. QIII demo at 149 FPS.
You can leave a few things off without losing anything...
Case and Power supply was $180 total (Almost got Antec Soho Server with 400W for $140)
Audigy Gamer $88 (A7V333 has onboard audio)
Speakers $88
DVD $50
