My DVD and CDRW Drives keep disappearing help me please..

    Hi everyone,

I recently finished building a p4 1.6 system with the Tyan S2029 motherboard with the Intel 845 chipset. It has a Creative 16x DVD and a BTC 12x8x32 CDRW. I have the Windows XP Pro OS. After the computer is left on for a while , say for instance I went out for about 20 minutes when I come back and go in to my computer I notice that the DVD and CDRW are gone. However if I restart the system this remedies the problem for that instance. Sometimes this problem does not happen and everything is OK but sometimes it happens. It is really frustrating. Can anyone give me at least a clue as to what is happening here. Thanks in advance

Firstly you didnt mentioned if system hangs when devices disappear. Try check if all cords a plugged in properly. If the problem exists, try to unplug one of the devices and see if theres still the same problem with one device. That way you can figure
which device is a hanger. Describe how drives are connected , cos there might be a conflict with HDD too.

If your CDRW and DVD are on the same IDE Cable try moving one of them onto the Hard Disk Cable. Putting two CD Rom drives on the same line can cause problems.
